What is felt? Felt is the first textile known in the history of mankind - dating from 7,000 B.C.E. Felt is a non-woven fabric. People learned to make felt before they could spin, weave or knit. Felt is for me a way of molding ancient history into modern works of art. Free from the constraints of the weave or knit stitch, the colors and designs are created with less restriction than that of other textile methods and can be added to the felt like paint is brushed on a canvas. This freedom to sculpt and paint allows almost limitless opportunity to create beautiful treasures from this natural and historical media.
